Follow these steps for a clean, long-lasting finish.

To get the best results from your decal, please take a few minutes to read through the steps below. Most of our decals come in matte vinyl, which may require a little extra care during application.

What You’ll Need:

  • Clean, dry surface (glass, metal, plastic, painted surfaces, etc.)

  • Squeegee, credit card, or similar tool

  • Masking tape (optional for alignment)

  • Patience!

What’s Included:

Your decal is made up of three layers:

  1. Transfer Tape (top layer)

  2. Vinyl Decal (middle layer – your design)

  3. Backing Paper (bottom layer)

How to Apply Your Vinyl

1. Clean the Surface
Ensure your surface is clean and completely dry. Use a mild cleaner or alcohol to remove any dust, grease, or residue. Avoid glass cleaners with ammonia.

2. Press and Rub the Decal
Before peeling anything, firmly rub over the decal with a squeegee or card to make sure the vinyl sticks well to the transfer tape.
Matte vinyl comes with a firmer backing card and may need extra pressure and slight heat from rubbing to help the vinyl release properly onto the transfer tape.

3. Peel the Backing Paper
Carefully peel away the backing paper, making sure the vinyl stays attached to the transfer tape. If any part lifts, press it back down and rub again with extra pressure.

4. Apply the Decal
Position the decal and press it onto the surface, starting from one edge and smoothing across to prevent bubbles. Use your squeegee or card to press the decal down firmly.

5. Remove the Transfer Tape
Peel the transfer tape back slowly at a sharp angle. If the vinyl lifts, press it down again and rub gently before continuing.

Extra Tips for Matte Vinyl

  • Comes with a firmer backing card – firm rubbing helps generate slight heat, aiding transfer

  • Apply with steady, even pressure

  • Best results occur in mild or warm conditions – avoid applying in cold weather

Aftercare

  • Avoid washing the surface for at least 24 hours after application

  • For vehicles, wait 48 hours before pressure washing
